The Fall: Alexandria

I just watched a movie called The Fall. It was sooo good, I sobbed for like 20 minutes. It takes place in an early 1920s hospital, with Alexandria, a little girl who works at an orange orchard and fell from a ladder while picking oranges. She has a broken arm, but she wanders the hospital as if it is her playground. Overseen by Nurse Evelyn, Alexandria is happy there. Then one day by chance Alexandria meets Roy, an injured stuntman recovering from a radical stunt and a broken heart. And he begins to tell her a story, about bandits and princesses and sword fighting and the movie takes on a whole new element.

I loved this movie, it is now one of my favorites. I've been in love with Lee Pace since Pushing Daises, but to see him in such a moving role was amazing. I would have given him an award for his performance, it was incredible, I just wanted to hug him the entire time.

But the true star of the movie was Catinca Untaru the little girl who played Alexandria. Her emotions were so real and she was so unbelievably cute. You can't help but immediately fall in love with her.

Anyway, if you're looking for something different to watch, you should go for The Fall by director Tarsem Singh. It is so beautiful!

Love for Period Dramas

This is a video I made for YouTube.com of my favorite period dramas... Enjoy!

Happyland

AMANDA JENSSEN

I have discovered an awesome new artist, her name is Amanda Jenssen and she is from Sweden. She was on Swedish Idol in 2007, and she came out with the album "Killing My Darlings" and she has a new single called "Happyland" She has an awesome raspy voice that I'm in love with and she has the cutest sense of style, she reminds me of Katy Perry and Duffy, and Kate Nash all mixed together and SWEDISH!
People should definitely check out her amazing music and her website! http://www.amanda-jenssen.se/ It's all in Swedish, but you can translate it if you want and there is pictures and music as well!
I am already addicted to her songs Amarula Tree and Happyland. Unfortunately I am not sure how to buy her album in the US. But hopefully she will become international soon. She is definitely good enough.

Slither & Hiss: Montgomery Python

My mom has caught a Garden Snake. My puppy Brookie had first discovered it in the stones in our yard. It is kind of creepy but I think it is cute. It's really small. It's tiny, so I think it must be a baby.

We have named him (we are assuming it is a him) Montgomery Python, "Monty" for short. My Mum came up with Python and I came up with Monty, for Monty Python! Yay! John Cleese. (I want to marry 70s Micheal Palin!!) Not only that, but Uncle Monty Montgomery from the Series of Unfortunate Events (favorite books from my recent childhood) was a herpetologist, which is a person who studies (collects) snakes/reptiles. So I thought the name was very fitting.

Anyway, we have decided to keep him! I have the tank and everything from my late green anole, Wilmer. :( So Monty has a new home! I don't know if we'll be able to keep him once he is bigger and we start having to give him frogs and mice. I am a rodent lover and I could never feed one to a snake. A frog maybe! (Frogs are GROSS!) Anyway, I hope we keep him for a while anyway, he's really cute.

It's really fun watching him move. I've never had a snake before or watched them for an extended period of time. My cousins had a garden snake named Heston, but I don't really remember looking at him much.

Now, all I need is my very own puppy and our animal family will be complete: Snake, Monty; Three cats, Bella, Gypsy and Zoe; Dog, Brooklyn; Rat, Nola!! I love all of my animals and I'm very excited about this new edition!

Glittering Emerald Eyes

If you know me, you will know that I have a strange obsession with green eyes. Clive Owen's green peepers drive me wild! There is just something so ethereal and I always picture fairies with dancing green eyes. I've always longed for them! And I think they look beautiful with dark skin tones like mine!

And now I am going to have them! I'm getting contacts next month and I am going to get dark green ones. I am so excited! I'm not sure however which brand to go with. Acuvue or Freshlook? The general opinion is that Acuvue is more comfortable and more subtle. And that Freshlook is more durable and has better color.
As for looking natural, I'm not really worried about that. I have dark skin and dark reddish brown hair (right now), so it probably won't look natural anyway. And brand seems to have people saying they look as natural as possible.

I have almost defiantly decided on Freshlook Colorblend Gemstone Green. There is a girl on YouTube who is almost exactly my skin tone and has very dark brown eyes like me, and they looked amazing on her, so it shows basically what I will look like. And it's only $20 for a months supply, so if I don't like them, I won't be stuck with them forever.
Speaking of which, there is this radical new surgery from newcoloriris.com, where they permanently change your eye color. It's not legal in the US and not FDA approved. I can understand why people would want this, not me, but I get it. But what can they be thinking? Going to Panama? Where they don't speak English and having a quack operate on your eyes for a couple thousand buck. They must be insane! Apparently the color implants, cause glaucoma, cataracts, and eventual blindness. There's only like a 50% chance that you won't go blind. That is WAY to high a risk just for cosmetic reasons. Those people must be crazy.

I'll stick with contacts!! Yay!

My Beloved Critters

Nola- This is my rat Nola Azkedelia. She is such a sweet heart. I got her a few months ago from some people who were going to kill, freeze and feed her to their snake. Ew! I couldn't let that happen. I was planning on getting rats anyway, but I originally didn't want white ones. But I love Nola and I couldn't imagine her any other way. She really needs a bigger cage, and a buddie, pet rats get very lonely. I spend time with her as much as I can, but I don't like to take her out, because I also have cats! Ahh!

Either way, I love Nola so much! She's my baby! :) She loves fruit loops, they're her favorite!

Brookie- This is my dog Brooklyn Aurora. She is the BEST dog ever! Really, I LOVE her sooo much. She is the funniest thing. She gets so excited when we come home, it's hilarious! She runs around with her 'Ernie' (her squeaker toy) which is her pacifier. She runs around in a panting moaning and "purring" if she can't find it. She has her blue and pink blanket that she sleeps with every night. She is a true member of our family, she's just like a person.

Brookie-poo is my beloved puppy. I love her sooo much. I have nightmares about her dying! It's horrible! I have decided that she will NEVER die. So there. My baby puppy!

Freedom, Beauty, Truth & LOVE

I have decided, that The Moulin Rouge is again my favorite movie. I had strayed from it, feeling that I should grow and change, it's having been my favorite movie since I was 13. But having watched this past week end after some time apart, I fell in love with the story all over again.

I think that because it first got me at such a young age. The DVD sat in my foyer when I was 10 years old, and I wasn't allowed to watch it, this intrigued me. And from that moment I had a yearning to know what was in this forbidden movie.

Then when I finally got my first glimpses of it at age 12 (I had never forgotten it) I was astounded. I laughed and cried. And sat in awe of it. At the time I was going through a lot of pain, and believing that there was a love so strong that could conquer anything really kept me going. I believe that in part this movie helped save my sanity. It was just what I needed.

Then when I was 13 I finally saw it in its entire form. I borrowed it secretly from the library and watched it under the covers on a small portable DVD player. I sobbed uncontrollably that first time and I cried just as hard a few days ago 5 years later.

I truly believe that The Moulin Rouge will always have a special place in my heart. It is so beautiful and tragic that my heart always aches just to think of it.

Friends Indeed

This is me and my cousin/best friend SARA. We have been friends and cousins all our lives :) We made so many plans together. Our lives in NYC when we grew up. And even though life has put those plans on hold we still have our dreams.

We have so much fun together. We invented the Movie Fest. And since we were young we get together and we watch whatever movies we feel like ALL night long. Like Dumb & Dumber or Hello Dolly or Pearl Harbor.

We have very similar taste in movies and in guys. We both think that James McAvoy is one hot man, and we also LOVE Leo DeCaprio and ooh Paul Walker. And when we thought of the perfect Darcy we both considered Henry Cavill. Sometimes its scary how much we think alike.

Then there are things that we don't agree on. We are like any typical friends and we have had our little tiffs, but that's one good thing about being best friends with a relative. They have to love you no matter how silly you can be. And sometimes we don't agree on guys, when she was 13 she had this thing for Apollo Anton Ono. Weird right?

Anyway, I love hanging out with Sara.

RACHEL- One of the other people that I hang out with all the time is actually Sara's sister Rachel. She is amazing and hilarious. She can say some pretty weird gross things, but I love her. She has the cutest dogs ever, two Boston Terriers named Brindy and Brody. I love hanging out with all three of them.

We have a TON in common. We both LOVE Doctor Who and Twilight. And she got me to read the Gregor Chronicles by Suzanne Collins and I really like them. We also both love the shows L&O SVU and Heroes. So we get together and watch Dr Who together a lot. Plus, I just love hanging out with her!

Rach has some really weird taste in guys though... She loves Avenged Sevenfold and for the last year or so has been obsessed with Jimmy Sullivan. And frankly he's just nasty. I don't mind A7X music, but I just hate Jimmy because she talks about him all the time. She is also now obsessed with Shawn Murray (pronounced MUR-ee) From NCIS, he plays McGee apparently. (I don't watch it) but he's cute in a geeky way, but he's not hot at ALL and she thinks he is... ewww.

The only guys we agree on are David Tennant, Chris Meloni and Zachary Quinto, which happen to be the stars of our favorite shows. :)

SARAH- The 'sexy beast' on the far left in the pic on the right is my only good friend who isn't related to me. I've know Sarah for many years, since we were eight or so. Her Dad doesn't like me so we haven't spent much time together in the last few years. But she lives with her Mom now, and its like 45 min away and I miss her a lot. And I don't get to see her in school anymore, which was the only place we could hang out.

But I'm hoping that we will hang out a lot more that she's gotten away from her Dad.

This is me and my other friend/cousin, ERICA. She is so amazing and funny. http://steelgardengrandeur.blogspot.com/ That's her blog, check it out! We both decided to start blog in the same week, without even consulting each other. That's how in sync we are :)

Anyway, Erica is so amazing. She brought me and Sara to see Dashboard Confessional and Panic! at the Disco in Toronto last year. It was sooo fun!

We also have some similar tastes. Like we both love Moulin Rouge an the musical Wicked. But a lot of stuff we don't agree on. Like she hates the movie the Notebook. WHAT? Yeah I don't what that's about! And she HATES Kristin Stewart. While I just don't particularly like her as Bella. But we both love the Twilight Saga.

And she first introduced me to my true love Chris Carrabba, my all time favorite music Dashboard Confessional. So for that reason I am infinitely indebted to her.

ERIN- Silly Erin. She is my other friend/cousin. (I have a lot) We also have a lot in common. We are definitely related, we are so alike. Sometimes its scary and we get on each others nerves. We are both so opinionated, and when we rarely don't agree, we REALLY don't agree. But mostly we get on great. We both love to read and listen to music. And we love watching really awesome movies.

We are a lot alike and we fight sometimes, but I love her. And we will always be best friends!

Days Go By So Slowly...

Yes, the days seems to be weeks because I am waiting anxiously for November 20th. I am a huge Twilight fan and I cannot wait for the next installment New Moon to come out.

My expectations for the first movie were hardly anything, since I hadn't read the books. So I thought Rob Pattinson was hot, and Kristin Stewart was cute. I loved the movie and it immediately became one of my favorites. I love Ashley Greene, she is sooo adorable. And I thought all of the vampires were amazing.

Now having read the books, I still love the movie Twilight and I truly think it was brilliantly cast. Except for Kristen Stewart. Don't get me wrong I like her and she is beautiful, but she is not the best actress, and I think they could have found a much better Bella. Some of the lines that she has, and they way she speaks them really bother me.

However, I have high hopes for New Moon. I think that perhaps with a new director, Kristin will be... better directed. If that makes sense. And New Moon is my second favorite of all the books, first being Breaking Dawn. So I really hope that they get it right. Based on the trailers, I don't think I will be disappointed.

I am however very worried about the subsequent movies. Especially my favorite Breaking Dawn. I don't know if Kristin Stewart will be able to pull off Vampire Bella. And although I love Taylor Lautner, I don't know if he'll be able to portray the anguish and passion of Eclipse and Breaking Dawn that are expected of Jacob. Although I would NEVER want them to recast it. I hate when they do that.

They have recast the role of evil vampire Victoria. I love Rachelle Lefevre. I think she is beautiful and perfect for Victoria. However they have (for some reason) recast Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria for Eclipse. I love Bryce and would have been happy if she had played her from the beginning, but recasting make me furious!

Anyway, we will see how these people fair recreating every young girl's dream world. I can not wait for New Moon and I am very interested to see who will be playing the parts of other characters for the other movies. Like Charlotte and Peter and the other wandering vampires.

I love the Twilight Saga and I am sincerely hoping that the movies live up to all Twifans expectations!

My World Crumbling Down

Ok, currently my entire downstairs is completely torn apart. My mother discovered mold and so rip, rip, rip out come the carpet and the paneling. Not that she shouldn't have done it, she is doing an amazing job, with little help from me. It seems like every time she gets ahead something else goes wrong and it is truly unfair, because no one deserves happiness and a nice home more than she does. I'm thinking of writing to Oprah and telling her our whole story. Or maybe Extreme Makeover. Because I really think we deserve it. Well, she does anyway. I mean half of the stuff that is going wrong is because of the stupidity of my ex-step-father. I don't like to speak ill of the dead, but he totally screwed us!

His slutty ex-wife (one of them I should say) gets his pension check every month because he never changed the beneficiary. And my mom and him were married EIGHT years. So she gets money every month to feed her drug habit and we are barely scraping by. It really pisses me off!

But there is nothing I can do. Its really imperative now that I get a job, because I HAVE to contribute or things will just continue like this. She has supported me all my life and I have done nothing to deserve it or repay her. I just hope that I can make up for it somehow. But really who is going to give a job to an 18 year old without a HS diploma. (Yeah, I know!) I feel like such an idiot. But it's not like I was really being lazy. And I almost almost graduated, but depression seriously runs in our family and I just couldn't seem to do it. I tried, I really did. But nothing seemed to matter, and I just couldn't make myself get up in the morning. I regret so much of what I didn't do now. And now I don't know what I can do to make up for it. I am studying for my GED test and then I'll get a job hopefully, but there is such unemployment here. And my test isn't until December, so what can I do till then?

Pride and Prejudice Dream Cast

I want a new Pride and Prejudice! It's about time. So I've cast one myself. And if some movie maker is really smart, he'll call up these actors and put this new 2011 version of P&P into production right now!

The Bennets

Elizabeth Bennet- First up of course is our heroine Lizzy, and she has to be stunningly beautiful as well as well spoken and witty. Elizabeth is the second of the five Bennet sisters and is the most intelligent and independent. She is one of the best characters in English literature ans she deserves to be well portrayed. I don't think anyone will top Jennifer Ehle's version, but I think my choice is a sound one. I have chosen Andrea Risebourough. I first saw her in the Devil's Whore where she put in a amazing performance. She is not new to period drama and I think she would make a perfect Elizabeth Bennet.

Jane Bennet- The eldest Bennet sister is considered the most beautiful of the girls and is mild and sweet-tempered. She goes through much heart ache in the novel, but is always kind and good. For this role I chose Olivia Hallinan. She is lovely and also no stranger to the period drama, as she played the main character Laura in the series Lark Rise to Candleford. I believe she would gracefully portray the beautiful Jane Bennet.

Mary Bennet- Mary is the extremely quiet, studious sister, who plays the piano religiously and "reads and makes many extractions" She is considered the plainest of the Bennet sisters, and is always portrayed as so. But I thought, she is their sister and I am sure she was just as pretty. So I chose Catherine Steadman, fro Mansfield Park, she portrayed Julia Bertram. It's a small role, but I thought she was good and would make a very appropriate Mary.

Katherine Bennet- Kitty sort of the middle child, not treated very kindly and picked on by her family. She is a bit immature and follows along with everything her mischievous younger sister Lydia does. I chose Claire Foy to play Kitty. She is so pretty and I think she would play the role of well meaning Kitty very well.

Lydia Bennet- The youngest sister, Lydia is the flirt and mischief maker of the group. Throughout the novel she is getting into trouble and behaving badly. I chose Jemima Rooper to play Lydia. Jemima has wonderful comic timing and also starred in the semi-period drama Lost in Austen. I think she would be absolutely perfect to play Lydia Bennet.

Mr. Bennet- The girl's father is an overly laid back middle class country gentleman, whose estate is entailed away. He spends most of his time in his library, away from his loud easily excited wife and younger daughters. Elizabeth is his favorite daughter, being most like him. I chose Liam Cunningham to portray Mr. Bennet, Liam has been around for quite a while do amazing work. But my favorite is his part as Mossie in Falling for a Dancer. I think he would make an amazing Mr. Bennet.

Mrs. Bennet- The girl's chaotic mother is a woman, once a great beauty, who is now neurotic and "suffers from nerves" when she doesnt get her way. The antics of Mrs. Bennet are trying on her husband and children and she tends to favor Lydia who is more like her. I have chose Geraldine James to play Mrs. Bennet. I have not seen her in a role like this, but I think she would do a fantastic job. She did play Lady Rowley in the BBC drama He Knew He Was Right. She is a lovely woman who could play Mrs. Bennet creditably.

The Lucas'

Charlotte Lucas- The plain spinster who is Elizabeth's closest friend. Although she is considered to be very plain she is a very kind person. And she and Elizabeth have been friends for some time. To play Charlotte I have chose up-and-coming actress Abigail Tarttelin. Even though she is a very beautiful woman I think she has just the right look to be Charlotte.

Sir William Lucas- Charlotte's father a man who has been elevated from country gentleman to the knighthood, and he is very proud of St. James' Court. To play Sir William I have chosen Tom Gerogeson. I love him as Fancy's father in Under the Greenwood Tree.

Maria Lucas- Charlotte younger sister. A flighty nervous young girl, who goes into Kent with Elizabeth to visit Charlotte after she is married. To play her I have chosen Sophie Vavasseur.

The Bingleys

Charles Bingley- A rich young man who moves into the neighborhood is very desirable to everyone in town. Bingley is Jane's love interest. He falls for her beauty and sweetness almost immediately. He is very persuadable however, and very much influenced by his two sisters and his best friend Mr. Darcy. The actor I have cast for the adorable Mr. Bingley is Rafe Spall, who played the brooding Mr. Rochester in the Wide Sargasso Sea (incredible movie by the way)I would love to see Rafe play the lovable Mr. Bingley.

Caroline Bingley- The devious single sister of Charles. She has plans for her brother and for herself, concerning Mr. Darcy. She is very haughty and has no time for the poor country folk that she is now forced to mix with. She has her sights set on the Darcy family to further her financial interests. And she will have no opposition, especially not from the Bennets. I have chosen Natalie Press for the role of Caroline. I think this beautiful actress could play her very well.

Louisa Hurst- The older married sister of Bingley. She is just as haughty as her sister, but has much less to lose, having already caught a husband. To play Mrs. Hurst I have chose Cate Blanchett. I know it's unlikely that such a well known actress would take on such a small role. But I'd still like her to play it.

Mr. Hurst- Louisa's husband is a drunk incredibly idle 'gentleman'. I've cast Timothy Spall to play this lush aristocrat.

The Darcys

Fitzwilliam Darcy- The other half of the epic love story. The most beloved romantic character of all time. He is the rich, silent brooding Darcy who falls for Elizabeth. He is not well liked because of his pride and conceit. But he falls for Elizabeth, because of her wit and her spirit and her "fine eyes". Even though it is a difficult journey Darcy never stops loving Lizzy, no matter how he tries. It is true love. And though she dislikes him, she will learn what kind of man he really it. Darcy is every woman's fantasy, he's tall dark and handsome, and he is Darcy! I have two candidates for Mr. Darcy. Matthew Goode, who I think would make an excellent Darcy. And Henry Cavill, who is gorgeous and would also play Darcy very well.

Georgiana Darcy- Darcy's younger sister. Caroline's candidate for her brother, and the subject of Wickham's desire (her money) The quiet, shy Georgiana loves music and plays beautifully. To play the lovely, shy Gerogiana I have cast Mia Wasikowska.

Colonel Fitzwilliam- Darcy's cousin. Charming young man who befriends Elizabeth. And from whom Elizabeth learns the truth about who broke up Jane and Bingley. I have chosen Jonas Armstrong to play the Colonel, even though he is a bit too handsome for the role.

William Collins- Mr. Bennet's house and property, his estate is entailed to Mr. Collins "an odious man" who comes to chose a bride from the Bennet girls. He is foolish, insincere and arrogant, a very repugnant character. To play Mr. Collins I have cast Benedict Cumberbatch.

The de Bourghs

Lady Catherine de Bourgh- Darcy's aunt Lady Catherine, is also clergyman Mr. Collins' patroness. She is extremely rich and used to having her own way. She is definitely not pleased when rumors of an engagement between Lizzy and Darcy start to surface. She is determined to marry her daughter to Darcy. I have cast Helen Mirren as Lady Catherine, because she has a very regal, commanding look about her and is very frequently seen in costume dramas.

Anne de Bourgh- Anne is the sickly daughter of Lady Catherine and the intended wife of Mr. Darcy. I have cast Rachael Stirling of Tipping the Velvet.

George Wickham- Wickham is the handsome soldier who comes into the picture sweeping everyone off their feet and telling tales of Darcy's treachery. But the true Wickham is exposed when Lydia runs away with him. To play the wicked debonair George I have cast Craig Robert Young. He just has the perfect Wickham look in his eyes.
